White Rice VS Cauliflower Rice

White Rice is a starch carbohydrate which is broken down to sugar a good alternative is Cauliflower rice which is not a carbohydrate it's a good source of Fibre which helps keep our digestive system healthy and also helps to keep your blood sugar levels low.

Full sugar Vs Sugar free

We all know that Fizzy drinks are full of added sugar which make them taste nice and sweet, these drinks should be avoided if you have type 2 diabetes.  Although you would think that sugar free or zero sugar would be good alternatives they often have sugar substitutes such as sweeteners like Aspartame.

Hidden sugars

There are several foods that have hidden sugars in them, mainly the below,

  • Yogurt

  • Oatmeal

  • Peanut Butter

  • Sauces

  • Canned Fruits

  • Alcohol - cocktails such as margarita, daiquiri

Some fruits that are high in natural sugars are,

  • Pineapple

  • Grapes

  • Banana
